The Southern California Chapter of AFCOM is pleased to present an educational event covering trends in high performance computing and high-density infrastructure environments. Partnering with the San Diego Supercomputer Center, AFCOM SoCal welcomes Chuck Gilbert – Dell EMC and Greg Stover – Vertiv to discuss how industries, R&D and academia are pushing the limits of technology.

Presenting: Trends in High Performance Computing

Chuck Gilbert is part of Dell Technologies Server and Infrastructure Systems (SIS) Office of the CTO as an HPC Technologist. Chuck brings over a decade of deep expertise across multiple verticals in High Performance Computing and Distributed Processing System architectures and operations.

Prior to joining Dell Technologies, Chuck worked as a software/infrastructure engineer in the defense and intelligence industry deploying large scale, mission processing infrastructures employing full stack solutions. 

Chuck was also previously Technical Director and Chief Architect for the Institute for CyberScience – Penn State University.  During Chuck’s tenure at Penn State, he architected, deployed, and operated a greenfield HPC architecture incorporating a new State-of-the-art Datacenter, scalable commodity building blocks, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) platform automation as well as seamless hybrid cloud bursting across on-prem virtualized infrastructure, as well as multiple public cloud providers.

Chuck also previously worked at Oracle, where he was part of the Product Management team responsible for building out their 2nd generation bare metal HPC capabilities in the cloud.

Chuck brings a unique blend of private and public sector experience, coupled with strong hands-on knowledge of the levels of complexity it takes for architect, deliver, and operate hyperscale topologies.  Chuck is married to Sarah and lives in Round Rock, TX their seven children Tanner, Liron, Nick, Logan, Max, Lily, and Reagan.

With over 30 years of IT and data center, infrastructure and IT efficiency and optimization expertise, Greg has a proven track record of pushing the technology innovation envelope with the leading Thermal, Power, Monitoring and DCIM Solutions with Cloud Providers, Colocation Operators, End-Users and the Channel.

As an evangelist for new technology, rapid change and continuous improvement, Greg has demonstrated a unique ability to coordinate disparate teams and bridge IT, Facilities and partner/vendor gaps while they work to solve the daily questions of Cloud, Colo, On-Prem, DR, EDG/IoT and whatever is next?

Greg is Director of National Accounts and resides in Laguna Hills with his family!
